The city of Eagan is comprised of around 33 square miles of rolling hills, lakes, rivers, and woods. Approximately 1,400 acres of maintained land is spread throughout 56 different parks. The majority of Eagan’s park system is located in Lebanon Hills Park. Some of the most notable parks include:
Holz Farm Park: A popular destination for recreational activity is Holz Farm Park. Located next to a small lake, the park offers a baseball diamond, basketball court, and playground equipment. Residents also enjoy the beautiful community garden located in the park. Holz Farm most popular amenity is its barn. The barn can house up to 80 people and is rentable for graduations and weddings.
Goat Hill Park: Goat Hills Park is one of the largest sporting complex hubs in Eagan. The park boasts 2 lighted baseball fields, 2 paved hockey rinks, batting tunnels, a sheltered building, and playground. All throughout the year, Goat Hills Park is the bustle of sports activity.
Cedar Pond Park: Located off of Diffley Road, Cedar Pond Park is the perfect destination to enjoy the outdoors. Although it is one of Eagan’s smaller parks, Cedar Pond offers a wide range of amenities for its residents to enjoy. The park maintains playground equipment, benches, picnic tables, and a deck with a panorama view of the lake. Because of the lake, Cedar Pond Park is also a perfect location for fishing.
Caponi Art Park: Located on 60 acres of rolling wooded hills, Caponi Art Park is an outdoor education experience for all ages. The park welcomes over 18,000 visitors each year from its opening in May to its closing in October. Visitors enjoy a quiet and peaceful atmosphere as they walk the trails and view the unique art pieces. The park’s most popular features include miles of walking wooded trails, the Theatre in the Woods outdoor atmosphere and a sculpture garden. Programs include the Summer Performance Series, Family Fun Tuesdays, Medieval Fair, and Bluegrass Festival.
Lebanon Hills Park: Dominating the city of Eagan’s parkland system is Lebanon Hills Regional Park. The park covers over 2,000 acres of land which is constantly in use year-round. Lebanon Hills has 14 miles of summer hiking trails and 12 miles of winter of winter ski trails. Residents also enjoy a lakeside beach during the summer with a host of waterfront activities like fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, and of course swimming. Other activities include biking, camping, geocaching, hunting, picnicking, cross country skiing, hiking, and snowshoeing.
Cascade Bay: Although admission is not free, Cascade Bay is one Eagan’s most popular summer destinations. As one the largest outdoor municipal water parks, Cascade Bay appeals to all age levels with its numerous amenities and features. The facility boasts several waterslides, zero-depth entry points, a Lazy River, and 9-hole miniature golf course.
