Burnes Park: Burnes Park is a 7-acre park that is home to Hopkins’ only horseshoe pits. In addition to horseshoe, Burnes Park also has a playground, basketball court, softball field, and tennis courts which visitors can enjoy. The winter season brings an ice skating and hockey rink to the park. In addition to active amenities, Burnes Park also features a picnic shelter area with outdoor grills.

Shady Oak Beach: One of the most popular summer destinations for families, Shady Oak beach is located in the nearby city of Minnetonka and features 76 feet of sandy beachfront, a water play area, a high dive, sand volleyball courts, concessions, bathroom facilities, and a canoe rental. While it is not free, it is a wonderful destination for a beautiful summer day.

Valley Park: The second largest park in Hopkins, Valley Park is 14.5 acres full of outdoor activity. Visitors can enjoy Hopkins’ only archery range, a playground, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, a softball field, and nature trails. The park also contains a picnic shelter area, outdoor grills, and restrooms. During the winter, Valley Park adds ice skating and hockey rinks, as well as a sledding hill.

Oakes Park: Oakes Park is a small, 5.7-acre park offering a newly renovated playground among other amenities. The park is located near several communities, and also features a softball field, tennis courts, a picnic shelter, and restrooms. This mix of amenities makes it a great destination for a summertime picnic. It also features a hockey/ice skating rink and a sledding hill in the winter.
