Overview of Elmwood

Neighborhood


The neighborhood community of Elmwood is located in south-central St. Louis Park in Ward 2. The Elmwood neighborhood is bordered by Highway 7 to the north, Excelsior Boulevard to the south, Highway 100 to the east, and the CP Railroad to the west. Elmwood is one of St. Louis Park’s oldest neighborhoods and is home to many of the cities original homes. Housing in Elmwood was immensely inspired by the railroad in the 1800’s. Elmwood covers a total area of 231.9 acres, which is 12 residential blocks, and is home to nearly 1,100 residents. The community of Elmwood has a total 518 housing units including 272 single-family homes, 168 apartment units, and 78 duplex units.

 

Residents of the Elmwood neighborhood have access to numerous amenities within the neighborhood and in surrounding communities. One of the biggest amenities available to residents of Elmwood is Miracle Mile Mall. Miracle Mile Mall was built in 1951 offering a wide variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Miracle Mile is dedicated to providing a convenient and exceptional shopping experience for all customers. Some of the amenities within the mall include Frattalone’s Ace Hardware, The UPS Store, Half Price Books, GNC, Dairy Queen, Baja Sol Tortilla Grill, and several more. Other amenities in the area include Lunds and Byerly’s, Chipotle, LA Fitness, Micro Center, and Mann’s St Louis Park Cinema.

 

Elmwood is home to 2 neighborhood parks with numerous activities for all residents to enjoy.

 

Justad Park: This park offers numerous outdoor amenities that residents can use to enjoy the great outdoors. Justad Park features a basketball court, horseshoes, sun shelter, and playground equipment.

 

Jorvig Park: This community park features a historic depot, horseshoes, play structure, and shelter.
