Tierneys Woods is a neighborhood of West Bloomington that is located in the northwest corner of the city off of Highwood Drive. Tierney’s Woods is a well-established neighborhood with numerous mature trees situated on rolling hills. The neighborhood consists of around 50 single family homes ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 in price. House styles in Tierneys Woods are primarily a mix of rambler and split levels. In addition, Braemar Golf Course is located just to the north across Interstate 494. The nearest shopping center to Tierneys Woods is the Eden Prairie Shopping Center to the west across Highway 169. The shopping center has a plethora of dining, shopping, and entertainment options including JCPenney, Target, Great Mandarin, and AMC Theatre.

Tierneys Woods is served by Independent School Diestrict 271, also known as Bloomington Public Schools, which has served the entire City of Bloomington since 1917. The closest school to the Tierneys Woods neighborhood is Ridgeview Elementary, which serves around 400 students in grades K-5. The student to teacher ratio at the school is 16.3 and is ranked first among elementary schools in Bloomington. Other nearby schools include Normandale Hills Elementary, Bethany Academy, and Olson Elementary and Middle School.
