Sumter is a neighborhood of West Bloomington that lies northeast of the intersection of 106th Street and Bloomington Ferry Road to the south of Hyland Park. Sumter consists of a little over 150 single family homes. House styles in the neighborhood are a good mix of ramblers, split levels, and ramblers. Sumter is an excellent neighborhood with much to offer including great homes for sale, family friendly community, and convenient location
There are plenty of amenities for residents of Sumter to enjoy in the surrounding area, including several parks such as Hyland Park. Located a few miles to the north, Hyland Park Preserve is spread out of 2,565 acres of land with an abundance of trails and recreational amenities such as skiing, snowboarding, disc golf, cycling, camping, and more. The closest dining destination in the area lies a few miles to the southwest and includes popular restaurants such as Dominoes, Subway, and Burger King. Some local shops include Scoops, West Side Perk, and Aly’s Market.
Sumter is by Independent School District 271, also known as Bloomington Public Schools, which has served the entire City of Bloomington since 1917. The closest school to the Sumter neighborhood is Bethany Academy, which serves students in grades K-12. Bethany educates from a Christian worldview while providing small class sizes and nurturing strong friendships among students. Other nearby schools include Normandale Hills Elementary, Olson Elementary School, Olson Middle School, Jefferson High School, Bethany Academy, and Normandale Community College.
