The Northwest quadrant is bordered by three major highways, 169, 62, and 100. The bordering cities include Hopkins and St. Louis Park to the north and Minnetonka to the west. The Northwest region consists of 13 neighborhoods, including Presidents, Interlachen Park, Rolling Green, Hilldale, Todd Park, Parkwood Knolls, Fox Meadow, Highlands, Grandview, Bredesen Park, Countryside, Melody Lake, and Birchcrest. There are 2 public schools in this region, Countryside and Highlands Elementary. With over 10 parks in total, this quadrant has a variety of small and large parks throughout.
For the active family, the Northwest community offers several recreational amenities, with more than 10 parks, 4 lakes, Nine mile creek, walking paths and nature trails. Or, if sharing the same interests with others appeals to you, perhaps joining the Interlachen Country Club with activities for golfers and non-golfers alike would be of interest. You will also find your share of grocery and retail shopping, along with a library, senior center, 2 elementary schools in the Edina Public school system, and many churches with varying denominations.
Family friendly, walkable neighborhoods are plenty and boast a mixture of architectural homes from traditional 2-story, classic ramblers and capes to luxurious high-end homes. If less home maintenance is for you, perhaps a new construction condominium would suit you. And for the history buffs, you will be interested to know that this community is home to the Peterson House, a Historic Heritage landmark with East Lake architectural style, built by Denmark pioneer, Paul Peterson in 1880.
