The city of Deephaven is known as being a serene and peaceful lake town. With its great location on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, Deephaven offers beautiful sweeping views of the lake as well as a myriad of parks and trails for its citizens to enjoy. Deephaven has 89 acres of parkland as well as 6 public beaches and 2 city marinas. This fabulous public access to the outdoors helps to promote the tranquil atmosphere in this small city. Some notable landmarks include:

Children’s Park: The perfect location for families with young children, Children’s park features two playground structures, a gazebo, and picnic tables. Parents can make use of the many benches surrounding the park and enjoy the park’s fountain while they watch their kids play. In addition, the park is close to the historic Cottagewood General Store. With food, drinks, and ice cream on sale within, parents and children can stop by for a quick refreshment after a day at the park.

Village Hall Park: Village Hall Park was designed to give the city of Deephaven a more aesthetic and appealing entrance. As one of the landmarks that many visitors will see when spending time in the city center, this park features a platform tennis court, one of only a few in Minnesota. The city has equipment available for checkout in the nearby city hall. The park offers year-round amenities including tennis, baseball, and playground equipment in the summer and an ice rink with a warming house in the winter. Additionally, this park provides access to the Southwest Regional Trail.

Southwest Regional Trail: Stretching on for about 27 miles between two corridors, the Southwest Regional Trail connects the city of Deephaven to its nearby neighbors. The north corridor begins in the city of Hopkins and connects through Minnetonka, Greenwood, Deephaven, Excelsior, Shorewood, and Victoria. This 15.5-mile long trail conveniently intersects with Deephaven’s Village Hall Park. The south corridor of the trail also begins in Hopkins. It runs southwest for 11.5 miles and connects through Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, and Chanhassen. Pedestrians, bikers, and cross-country skiers from Deephaven, as well as the surrounding cities, can enjoy these long miles of trails year round and easily use them to travel between cities.

Thorpe Park: Considered to be the trophy of Deephaven’s park system, Thorpe Park is rich with year-round amenities. Included in the park are activities for all ages and interests. During the warmer months, children make use of the three playgrounds and the two swing sets. Families can be found enjoying the tennis, basketball, and horseshoe courts, walking around the pond and enjoying the flower gardens, or simply sharing a picnic while grilling out. With the falling of snow, the park transforms into a winter wonderland, complete with an ice rink sledding hill, and warming house.
