Briar is a neighborhood of the City of Bloomington that is located between 94th and 96th Street near Ridgeview Elementary. The neighborhood contains around 140 single family homes ranging between $280,000 and $630,000 in price. House styles in Briar are primarily single story ranch, ramblers, and split levels. Like many of the neighborhoods in the City of Bloomington, Briar has a plethora of mature trees. Parks within close proximity to the neighborhood include Highland Greens Golf to the south, Tarnhill Park to the east, and Hyland Park to the west. The closest shopping center in the area is Normandale Village just a short distance to the east offering several shopping, dining, and grocery amenities. The Briar neighborhood is served by Independent School District 271 also known as Bloomington Public Schools, which has served the entire City of Bloomington since 1917. Bloomington Public Schools is one of the top school districts in the Twin Cities earing state and national recognitions. The closest school to the Briar neighborhood is Ridgeview Elementary, which serves around 400 students in grades K-5. The student to teacher ratio at the school is 16.3 and is ranked first among elementary schools in Bloomington. Other nearby schools include Normandale Hills Elementary, Bethany Academy, and Olson Elementary and Middle School.
