The neighborhood community of Minikahda Oaks is located on the east side of St. Louis Park surrounded by the Wolfe Park neighborhood in Ward 2. The boundaries of Minikahda Oaks is Randall Street to the north, Excelsior Boulevard to the south, France Avenue to the east, and Bass Lake Preserve to the west. Minikahda Oaks is one of the smallest neighborhoods in St Louis Park covering 29.5 acres, which is 4 residential blocks. The neighborhood was originally subdivided in 1926 with construction of single-family homes continuing until 1980. Today Minikahda Oaks is home to 77 single-Family homes with an average year built of 1947. Minikahda Oaks is an excellent close-knit community where residents feel at home.
Minikahda Oaks looks to provide residents with numerous events and activities throughout the year and they do this through the Minikahda Oaks Neighborhood Association. The Neighborhood Association was formed in 1948 and is one of the oldest operating neighborhood associations in Minnesota. The association works to represent the neighborhoods interest and ideas in front of the city and county government including working to improve roads and promote a sense of community within the neighborhood.
One event held within Minikahda Oaks is the Summer Fun Club. The Summer Fun Club is an event for children in kindergarten through 6th grade held at Bass Lake Park. This event is lead by high school and college students featuring numerous activities including sports, games, and crafts.
One popular amenity within Minikahda Oaks is Mill Valley Kitchen. Minikahda Oaks is only minutes away from Miracle Mile shopping Center and several other amenities in the area. Miracle Mile offers a variety of shopping and dining options including Ace Hardware, Woody’s Furniture, Half Price Books, Hoigaards, GNC, New Balance, Schuler Shoes, The UPS Store, and more. Other amenities in the area include Target, LA Fitness, Lunds and Byerly’s, Chipotle, Mann’s St Louis Park Cinema, St Louis Park Rec Center, and Trader Joe’s.
The Minikahda Oaks Neighborhood covers a total area of 29.5 acres, 22.3 percent of which being park and open space. Minikahda Oaks is home to one park that all residents can use and enjoy.
Bass Lake Park: Bass Lake Park is located on the west side of the neighborhood offering numerous outdoor activities. Bass Lake Park features playground equipment, pickleball court, shelter, and walking trails. Bass Lake Park provide residents the opportunity to experience the beautiful scenery in the area and numerous different animals.
