Maple Plain, Minnesota is a small city with a close-knit community. With a population of just over 1,800 residents, the city embodies a small-town feel while providing amenities to all. That same evening the Fire department Waterball Challenge takes place, This is where the local fire department battles one another through a friendly water fight. The next morning kicks of with a community 5K run through the most scenic parts of town. A car show, farmers market and craft fair are all shown at Northside Park not long after the run. The day ends with a parade through the downtown area as well as live music that locals can dance to on the streets. This annual summer event adds to the unity that this city is extremely proud of. Other events occurring throughout the year include outdoor movies, farmer’s markets, and more.
There are a number of local businesses in and around Maple Plain. For those who enjoy golfing, there are two courses located near the city. The Pioneer Creek Golf Course is open to the public and features 18 holes at a reasonable price. For those desiring a more private club, the Windsong Farm Golf Club is the go-to destination. Ranked in the top 5 of Minnesota’s golf courses by the Star Tribune, the Windsong Farm Golf Club is a well-known and respected club. Opened in 2004, it was immediately recognized for its excellence by Golf Digest Magazine.
Maple Plain is home to its own library which belongs to the Hennepin County Library system. A library system that is consistently ranked in the top 10 libraries nationwide, residents have access to all of the books and resources that are a part of this network through an interlibrary loan program. Residents from the nearby towns come to Maple Plain for library services.
Community education is made available through the nearby city of Orono’s public school system. With community education, residents of Maple Plain can explore a wide variety of classes for educational or recreational purposes. In addition to learning new skills, residents enjoy the connections that are made with other community members. Senior citizens in Maple Plain have access to the nearby Delano Senior Center. This facility provides both meals and events for senior citizens throughout the year.

Maple Plain belongs to a greater community made up of the surrounding cities of Loretto, Independence, Delano, Rockford, and Greenfield.
