The city of Mayer, Minnesota is located west of the Twin Cities metro area and is situated along the south fork of the Crow River. A smaller community, Mayer offers five parks and a trail within it’s 1.42 square mile city area. They are:

Old Schoolhouse Park: The largest park in Mayer, Old Schoolhouse Park consists of approximately 16 acres. The park provides for a variety of active recreational amenities. Included are four ball fields and a community gymnasium. The park is also the site of a municipal well, a small public works facility, paved trails, informational signs, a concession stand with covered picnic shelter, bleachers, picnic tables, a portable restroom facility,

off-street parking, playground equipment for the youth, and a Little Free Library. It is the site of the former Watertown-Mayer Elementary School, from which it derives its name. Old Schoolhouse Park’s facilities are used for community recreation and league ball. The community gymnasium is also available for volleyball and basketball.

West Ridge Park: West Ridge Park is comprised of approximately eight acres. The park primarily consists of open space and playground equipment. Additional amenities include a paved trail, a park sign, two picnic tables and a portable restroom facility. Plans are under way to make the playground handicap accessible and create a living classroom in the near future. This park also features a Little Free Library.

Bluejay Park: Bluejay Park is a neighborhood park that is made up of approximately 1.33 acres. The park is the site of the city water treatment facility and a municipal well. While not the largest active outdoor facility, it does offer a basketball court and picnic tables.

Meadow Park: Meadow Park is 12 acres and is located to the south of town in a local development. West of Highway 25, this park has a skate park, soccer nets, and children’s play equipment. This park is connected to the local, Hidden Creek Development by trails. It’s decent size and unique skate park attract a number of visitors during the warmer months.

Discovery Park:  Discovery Park is another park located within a community development. At 4.42 acres in size, it offers playground equipment and connects to the nearby Fieldstone Development via trails. Discovery Park’s quiet location and peaceful atmosphere make it ideal for young families.

Dakota Rail Trail: The Dakota Rail Trail consists of 21.3 miles of hard surface biking and walking trails that stretch from the city of Wayzata all the way to Mayer, Minnesota. Along the entire trail, bikers and walkers are treated to scenic panoramas of Lake Minnetonka. The trail ends in Mayer and connects the city with its neighbor, Waconia.
