With a population of over 51,000 residents, the city of Minnetonka is a fully developed suburban community featuring an abundance of amenities and resources for its residents. With numerous facilities, events, and organizations for residents to utilize and get involved with, the city has something to offer for everyone.

 

 

One popular amenity within the city of Minnetonka is its Williston Fitness Center. This facility features swimming pools, indoor tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, fitness equipment, and saunas. In addition, it offers services such as fitness and sports skills classes as well as child care. It is a one-stop destination for all fitness needs.

 

Another popular amenity is the Minnetonka library. The Minnetonka library is a part of the Hennepin County library system, a system that is consistently ranked in the top 10 libraries nationwide, and has access to all of the books and resources that are a part of this system.

 

Minnetonka also features a number of clubs and organizations in which its residents can get involved. One such organization is the Music Association of Minnetonka. With over 280 performing members split apart into nine choral and orchestral ensembles, the Music Association of Minnetonka puts on approximately 50 concerts each year for the community. Another organization is the Landing Shop. This organization runs a store featuring handmade items from Minnetonka residents aged 55+.

 

Events in Minnetonka include the annual Summer Festival, the Arts in the Park series, the Farmer’s Market, and the Minnetonka Night for Neighbors. The Summer Festival is the biggest annual celebration in Minnetonka. It takes place at the Civic Center Campus and features all sorts of ways forRidgedale Center in Minnetonka, Minnesota the community to get involved. At the same time, the Burwell House Festival takes place. This occurs in the historic Burwell House and features arts, crafts, and other events. At the end of the day, the festivities conclude with a fireworks display. The Arts in the Park series is another Minnetonka favorite. Located at the Civic Center Amphitheater, the Arts in the Park feature local theatrical productions, free local concerts, and free movie screenings. These events bring the community together in appreciation of theatrical, musical, and cinematic art, and are a fun, free, family activity. On Tuesdays from June-September, Minnetonka residents can enjoy fresh, locally-grown produce at the farmer’s market. This outdoor event also takes place at the Civic Center, and brings in large crowds. Finally, the Minnetonka Night for Neighbors takes place on an evening in August and focuses on uniting neighborhoods against crime. Neighbors enjoy the opportunity to interact with one another as well as with local safety and law enforcement workers.A final factor of Minnetonka’s community is its location. As one of the larger, southwestern suburbs, Minnetonka benefits from having its own premiere dining, shopping, and entertainment options. In addition, it’s close proximity to Minneapolis as well as the neighboring suburbs of Eden Prairie and Plymouth, give the residents even more options for enjoying Minnesota life.
