The neighborhood community of Willow Park is located in the north-central part of St. Louis Park in Ward 4. Willow Park is bordered by Franklin Avenue to the north, Burlington Northern Railroad to the south, Louisiana Avenue to the east, and Texas Avenue to the west. Willow Park covers 192.9 acres, with 12 residential blocks, and a population over 1,900. The first home constructed in Willow Park was in 1951 but the majority of homes were built in the 1960’s and 1970’s with an average year built in 1957. Willow Park is home 973 housing units with 301 single-family homes, 326 condominiums, 38 townhomes, and 308 apartment units. Willow Park is mainly made up of residential neighborhoods with very little commercial and industrial businesses.
Although the Willow Park neighborhood has very little amenities and entertainment options, residents can find all the amenities they need in surrounding areas. The Shops at West End are only 8 minutes from Willow Park, offering a wide range of upscale shopping and dining options. West End features numerous unique and locally owned shops and restaurants as well as nationally known brands. Some of the shopping and dining options include Cooper Pub and Restaurant, Bonefish Grill, Rojo Mexican Grill, Jos. A. Bank, Creative Kidstuff, Charming Charlie, and more. West End also features several entertainment options including ShowPlace Icon Theatre and Brush Studio. Other amenities in the area include Costco, Home Depot, TGI Fridays, Lifetime Fitness, Olive Garden, Walgreens, Little Caesars, and Jerry’s Do It Best Hardware.
The neighborhood of Willow Park is served by the Independent School District 283 also known as St. Louis Park Public Schools. Willow Park is home to St. Louis Park Middle School. St. Louis Park Middle School is an excellent school serving 1,000 students in 6th through 8th grade. St. Louis Park Middle School offers a strong community promoting an encouraging environment where students thrive. St. Louis Park also provides students with a rigorous academic program where students learn to become responsible and accountable. The vision statement of St. Louis Park Middle School is to create a peaceful, caring learning community that promotes intercultural respect, engage students in rigorous academics, relevant inquiry and meaningful actions, and ignite individual growth and lifelong learning.
The Willow Park neighborhood is home to one park for all residents to enjoy. Residents of Willow Park are also within walking distance Minneapolis Golf Club and Westwood Hills Nature Center.
