The Braemar Hills neighborhood is situated in the Southwest quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by Valley View Road, on the east by Antrim Road and Gleason Avenue, on the south by 78th Street, and on the west by U.S. Highway 169. The neighborhood is divided between its residential areas and the green spaces of the popular Braemar Golf Course. Additionally within the Braemar Hills neighborhood’s borders is the Braemar Ice Arena, which hosts the home games of the Edina Hornets hockey team. The arena was established in 1965, experiencing several additions, and transformations since that time. Another structure within this neighborhood is Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. Initially developed at the intersection of Cahill and 70th St the adjacent church is a historical part of Edina, as it aided the original settlers of the Cahill Settlement. Established in the mid-1850’s by principally Irish Catholics, “St. Pats” was at the heart of the community. Sadly it was destroyed by a fire and re-constructed in the Braemar Hills neighborhood.
This neighborhood has a wonderful blend of homes, from million dollar ramblers, resting along the golf course’s northern edge, to 1960’s and 70’s standard two story homes that are more affordable and typically 4-5 bedrooms. St Alban’s Church, Edina High School, Valley View Middle School, and Creek Valley Elementary are all closely located and offer the hub of community life by hosting events throughout the year such as theater and band presentations. This neighborhood is the ideal living space for an active lifestyle that is also conveniently located near suburban comforts.
Braemar Golf Course: The Braemar Golf Course encompasses the majority of the Braemar Hills neighborhood. At 500 acres, Braemar features 27 regulation holes, two 9-hole executive courses, a pro shop, driving range, practice putting green, indoor golf dome, banquet and meeting rooms and much more. Braemar also offers golf lessons, rules and etiquette clinics and leagues for visitors to learn the sport of golf or to hone in on their skills. Having been rated in the top 75 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest, the Braemar Golf Course is a staple of the local community.
Residents of the Cahill Neighborhood are served by Independent School District 273 also known as Edina Public Schools. Edina Public Schools is a nationally recognized district serving 8,500 students and is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each students. The closest school to the neighborhood is Valley View Middle School. Valley View Middle School serves 1,396 students in 6th through 9th grade providing an excellent academic program designed to help each succeed. Other schools in the area include Creek Valley Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School, South View Middle School, and Edina High School.
