The Lake Cornelia neighborhood is situated in the southeast quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by Highway 62, on the east by Valley View Road, on the south by 70th Street, and on the west by Highway 100. This mainly residential area is also home to the Edina Art Center, and the Edina Aquatic Center. As with most of Edina, this neighborhood was built mid-century, and many of its over 1,000 homes are one story ramblers.
Lake Cornelia is located next to a retail nirvana which hosts the Galleria, the Southdale Center, and a host of grocery stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Byerlys, Cub Foods, and Target. All of these are within a short distance of each other. Additionally, the lake that shares the neighborhood’s name is within walking distance. Because of this, it is easy to see why over 1,700 residents call this place home. The superior shopping and incredible, upscale atmosphere are both beautiful and highly desirable.
The Lake Cornelia neighborhood is home to one park as well as the aquatic and art centers:
Rosland Park: The 22-acre Rosland Park is the only park found within the Lake Cornelia neighborhood. It offers ball fields, a playground, a fishing dock, a picnic pavilion, and a disc golf course. Lake Cornelia is at the heart of Rosland Park, with a walking path around the north section of the lake. Visitors enjoy walking around the lake as well as venturing to the aquatic and art centers located within the park.
Edina Aquatic Center: The Edina Aquatic Center is located on the east side of Rosland Park. A pirate-themed water park with amenities for all ages, the Edina Aquatic Center is highly regarded as one of the best family destinations in the area. The main attraction is the olympic-sized swimming pool with swimming lanes and diving boards. In addition to the main pool, guests can enjoy the surfing simulator, zipline, obstacle courses, water slide tower, dry play area, and more. While not free, the Edina Aquatic Center is the go to destination for all day entertainment.
Edina Art Center: The Edina Art Center offers the neighborhood and surrounding areas a location to appreciate art and an opportunity to learn how to make it. Located on the western side of Rosland Park, visitors can discover the gallery exhibition schedule of solo and group exhibitions, purchase original artwork from the gift shop created by local artists, participate in all kinds of art classes, and enjoy the benefits of membership including discounts on classes and supplies. A great destination for creativity, music, and masterpieces, the Edina Art Center is a special location within the Lake Cornelia neighborhood.
Residents of the Cahill Neighborhood are served by Independent School District 273 also known as Edina Public Schools. Edina Public Schools is a nationally recognized district serving 8,500 students and is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each students. The closest school to the neighborhood is Valley View Middle School. Valley View Middle School serves 1,396 students in 6th through 9th grade providing an excellent academic program designed to help each succeed. Other schools in the area include Creek Valley Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School, South View Middle School, and Edina High School.
