The Shakopee district enrolls nearly 8,000 students in Shakopee and portions of the neighboring cities of Savage and Prior Lake. The district is located in one of the fastest growing suburbs in the Twin Cities. The mission is that the Shakopee Schools, in partnership with their community, will educate lifelong learners to succeed in a diverse world. The district is committed to providing the best opportunities for its students. The district services 5 elementary schools, a 6th-grade center, and 3 high schools.
As a growing community, Jackson Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Located in Shakopee, Jackson enrolls students that are in the “South of the River Area.” The school is a specialty math and science school, and the style of learning within it is inquiry based. The staff will challenge each student throughout their time at Jackson, and prepare them in the best ways possible for life beyond elementary education.
The Pearson 6th grade center truly attempts to make this single year one of the best years for its students academically. Their entire mission surrounds helping the students prepare for high school while they received plenty of one-on-one training. They have recently integrated an iPad educational system where each student receives an iPad in order to further their technological learning.
Shakopee is a community that is very interested and involved in its schools, its high school in particular. Shakopee High School is a caring community committed to achieving academic excellence, responsible leadership, and consistent integrity. The school has outstanding programs that consist of both athletics as well as arts, and they integrate technology inside every classroom. Advanced Placement, Honors, International Baccalaureate, and College Possible and AVID are just a few of the college preparatory classes offered.
