Poplar Bridge is built around Skriebakken Park, which features a large lake and plenty of acreage for recreational use. Poplar Bridge is a part of Independent School District 271, also known as Bloomington Public Schools, which has served the entire City of Bloomington since 1917. Bloomington Public Schools seeks to enable students to have successful futures with an emphasis on college and career readiness. Located just minutes to the south is Normandale Hills Elementary School. The school serves around 500 students and has a teacher/student ratio of 16.8. Other nearby schools include Valley View Elementary School, Valley View Middle School, Jefferson high School, Normandale Community College and Bethany Academy.
