The Wakefield neighborhood is situated on Ruann and Wakefield Roads off of Old Long Lake Road in northern Orono. This neighborhood is comprised of approximately 15 houses featuring wooded scenery and a family-friendly community. Within Wakefield, houses range in price from $1 million to $2.05 million. Wakefield is within close proximity to some of the best amenities in Orono. Noerenberg Memorial County Park is a tranquil park on Crystal Bay featuring elegant gardens with a variety of flowers.

Independent School District 278, also known as Orono Public Schools, serves the community of Wakefield. Orono Public Schools is a small and connected community with exceptional educational programs. One School in the area is Orono High School. At Orono High School dedicated teachers challenge students in grades 9-12 with rigorous academics. Other schools in the area include Schumann Elementary, Orono Intermediate School, and Orono Middle School.
