With a population of 1,700 residents, Bredesen Park is situated in the Northwest quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by Walnut Ridge Park, on the east by the eastern edge of Bredesen Park, on the south by Highway 212, and on the west by Highway 100. Bredesen Park has its own Mud Lake, copious paths, along with single family and multi-family residential homes and commercial corridors.
Bredesen Park is somewhat bordered by the meandering Olinger Blvd, which has bike lanes and connects with the Nine Mile Creek. The Bredesen Park neighborhood boasts the second longest bicycle and pedestrian trails in Edina. The majority of the neighborhood was established in the late 1960’s and 70’s. Bredesen Park has a wide array of houses, from splits to ramblers and traditional two story homes. There are a few complexes of condos and townhomes.
Walnut Ridge Park: Walnut Ridge Park is one of the larger parks found within the city of Edina. At 44 acres, it features a wealth of amenities for all ages and interests. Visitors enjoy the half-mile walking path, as well as abundant wildlife found within the nearby pond. Additionally, the park provides a playground, baseball field, ice rink, warming house, and tennis courts for visitors. With so much open space and room to explore, residents and visitors alike are sure to have a great time at Walnut Ridge Park.
Bredesen Park: Bredesen Park is a very large, 206-acre park that is popular among visitors and residents alike. The major draw of the park is the fact that it remains largely undeveloped. The major landmark is Nine Mile Creek. The park has over 2 miles of trails for bikers, joggers, and walkers to enjoy, many of which encircle the creek. With an abundance of wildlife all around, visitors will enjoy the scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Bredeson Park.
Residents of the Sunny Slope Neighborhood are served by Independent School District 273 also known as Edina Public Schools. Edina Public Schools is a nationally recognized district serving 8,500 students and is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each students. The closest school to the neighborhood is Creek Valley Elementary School. Creek Valley Elementary is one of six elementary schools in the district and specialized in providing safe, learning environment for students. Creek Valley serves serves 590 students and has a student/teacher ratio of 14. Other schools in the area include South View Middle School, Concord Elementary School, Valley View Middle School, and Edina High School.
