With a population of 800 residents, the Strachauer Park neighborhood is situated in the Northeast quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered by 60th Street to the north, Xerxes Avenue to the east, Highway 62 to the south, and France Avenue to the west. This mainly residential neighborhood was established as three subdivisions, Bel-Air, Town Realty Edina Terrace, and the Erickson Addition. Its 300 homes are mainly of the 1950’s era.
The neighborhood and park both derived their names from Herman Strachauer, who is credited with being the “father” of Edina’s parks. Herman was a member of Edina’s park board from its creation in 1948 until 1961, serving as president of the board from 1951-1960. The neighborhood’s 800 residents all love the area for its family-oriented atmosphere.

Strachauer Park: The local Strachauer Park, from which the neighborhood derives its name, is a 5-acre park with soccer fields, a skating and hockey rink, warming house, basketball courts and a playground. The park is a wonderful spot to watch the city’s amazing 4th of July fireworks. The fireworks are shot over Lake Cornelia, southwest of Strachauer Park, and getting the best views requires an early arrival because of how many people like to come. Throughout the year, the park sees a wide array of visitors and is even an off-leash dog area seasonally.
Residents of the Pamela Park Neighborhood are served by Independent School District 273 also known as Edina Public Schools. Edina Public Schools is a nationally recognized district serving 8,500 students and is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each students. The closest school to the neighborhood is Concord Elementary School. Concord Elementary is one of six elementary schools in the district and is recognized by the state as a 5 star school. Concord serves serves 720 students and has a student/teacher ratio of 15.6. Other schools in the area include South View Middle School, Highlands Elementary School, Valley View Middle School, and Edina High School.
