With a population of 1,000 residents, Golf Terrace Heights is situated in the Northeast quadrant of the city of Edina. It is bordered on the north by 50th Street, on the east by Wooddale Avenue, on the south by 58th Street as well as Southview Lane, and on the west by Highway 100. The neighborhood hosts several civic centers including City Hall, The Edina Country Club, Harvey Lake as well as numerous residential portions. The Edina Country Club was initially called Thorpe Country Club when it was first established in 1923. The 360 homes in this neighborhood, located just south of the Edina Country Club, consist of houses constructed mainly during the late 1930’s all the way up to the 60’s. Most of the homes are in the two-story rambler style.
Golf Terrace Heights showcases the biggest allotment of privately owned land in Edina, which is the golf course and grounds of the Edina Country Club. The land is around 123 acres. Another major characteristic of the neighborhood’s beauty is Lake Harvey, which is recorded by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency as a seven-acre lake. With the help of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, the city has attempted to stop nutrient-rich storm runoff into Lake Harvey so that it can maintain is luscious glamor and not turn into an algae infested pool.
Edina Country Club: The Golf Terrace Heights neighborhood was named after its inclusion of the Edina Country Club. The Edina Country Club is one of the Twin Cities’ premier country clubs. A private club offering a world-class, 18-hole golf course, tennis facilities with four clay courts and two hard courts, two paddle tennis courts, an olympic sized swimming pool with a cabana and snack bar, and a 65,000 square foot clubhouse. Within the clubhouse, members are treated to a golf shop, locker room facilities, a fitness room, two premium dining establishments, a pub, and a plethora of meeting spaces for events of all sizes.
Utley Park: Utley Park is located across from the Edina Country Club. Open to the public, the park features several recreational amenities inclduing two tennis courts, a basketball court, numerous picnic areas, as well as open space. Residents of the Golf Terrace Heights Neighborhood are served by Independent School District 273 also known as Edina Public Schools. Edina Public Schools is a nationally recognized district serving 8,500 students and is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each students. The closest school to the neighborhood is South View Middle School. South View Middle School serves 1,334 students providing an excellent academic program designed to help each succeed. Other schools in the area include Normandale Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School, Valley View Middle School, and Edina High School.
