The Nokomis community is found in the southernmost area of the city of Minneapolis. A collection of 11 unique neighborhoods, the Nokomis community offers a more peaceful, residential way of life when compared to the communities located closer to the downtown area. Residents enjoy the quieter way of life and numerous parks that can be found within the community. Nokomis takes its name from the large lake found in the center of its community, Lake Nokomis. Despite its quieter atmosphere, residents still have fabulous access to the amenities of the big city as Nokomis is located due south of downtown Minneapolis.
Nokomis’ location plays a large role in defining the lifestyle found within. As the southeastern border for the city of Minneapolis, the Nokomis community borders the cities of Richfield to the south and St. Paul to the east. The major roads running through the Nokomis community include Interstate 35W and Minnesota Highways 55, 62, and 77. Between these roads, the fabulous metro transit system, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on the southern border of Nokomis, residents of the area have nearly limitless infrastructure options. This easy access to the Twin Cities metro and the airport adds to the value of living within the Nokomis community.
