As a realtor who works in the community of Chaska, I’ve made it my mission to learn in depth about the history, schools, community life, and parks that make this city so unique. I believe that what greatly contributes to a home’s value is its location and the amenities that are a part of it.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Chaska’s current two-term mayor Mark Windschitl to learn more insights about this growing community.
Mark is a welcoming, friendly, and familiar face around town, he loves meeting new people and sharing his passion about this vibrant community. Mark is a lifelong resident of the Chaska community, graduating from Chaska High School in 1973, Mark is also a retired fire chief that served the city of Saint Louis Park for decades before continuing his life in public service as the mayor of Chaska.
When asked to describe the city in which he faithfully serves, Mark had this to say, “Chaska is one of the best small towns in America and its rich history, strong schools, convenient location, and active community life make it a wonderful place for families to live.”
Mark has been a huge advocate and very instrumental in helping develop and protect the more than 78+ miles of walking and biking trails that weave throughout the city.
Another huge success that has developed during Mark’s leadership is the creation of the Chaska Curling Center and the redevelopment of Fireman’s Park. As we talked about the Curling Center, Mark was ecstatic about its success so far, “Originally, we were hoping for 150 people to sign up to be apart of the leagues, instead we have over 650 waiting to join.” With the 2016 Ryder Cup golf tournament being hosted in Chaska at the Hazeltine Golf Course, they have big plans to turn the Curling Center and Fireman’s Park into a destination for watching the tournament on the big screens, enjoy some live music, and provide a fun public environment for people to relax and celebrate the tournament.
