Lake Minnewashta is 680 acres with a maximum depth of 70 feet. Water clarity is good and phosphorus is low. In a 2013 water quality report provided by Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, Lake Minnewashta received a B water quality grade meaning that it has good water quality, but algae may limit swimming in the late part of summer. Lake Minnewashta is part of Minnehaha Creek Watershed district and is in the Lake Virginia Subwatershed.
Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Green Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, Walleye, Yellow Bullhead and Yellow Perch.
Lake Minnewashta Regional Park is a 340 acre pristine park situated on the shores of Lake Minnewashta. Facilities include a swimming beach, bathhouse, off-leash dog area, reservable picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, creative playground, paved boat access, paved bike trails, turf trails for walking and skiing, ski/snowshoe rental and canoe/kayak storage rentals. This park gets the highest of reviews and is one to visit!
