Benton Lake is a 49-acre lake located on the north side of the City of Cologne.  The lake has been stocked with sunfish and crappies since 2014.  The pier location also includes a walking trail and picnic area.  Much of the lake is surrounded by Paul Ave. and the south western side is low marshlands.  Much has been done to preserve the lake including removing carp and trying to control the phosphorus levels that contribute to high amounts of algae in the summertime.

The lake is located in the middle of the city and provides a fantastic landscape to the area.  The City of Cologne is a quaint town of under 2000 people.  Some of the amenities that are near the lake are Burky’s Bar and Grill, Daboars Bar & Grill and Inn Town II as well as Cologne Fitness center.  Dalgreens Golf Club is located east and just west is a smaller lake called Meuwissen Lake.  The city also has the Cologne community center that host town events as well as can be rented for events.
