Located just 4 miles south of St. Paul and 11 miles east of Minneapolis, West St. Paul, Minnesota is home to almost 20,000 residents. Established in the late 19th century on the west bank of the Mississippi River, the small, family-friendly community of West St. Paul enjoys the beauty and tranquility of the country as well as the diverse amenities of the city. Kids are welcome to take part in the Rock the Barn Festival where they will experience face painting, wagon rides, art activities, photo booth, story walk, and old fashioned farm games. After the city parade, residents are also invited to the Harmon Park festival to enjoy music, business vendor booths, and fireworks.

Another popular community event in the city of West St. Paul is the annual TapeMark Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The tournament’s mission is to provide support for people with developmental disabilities through the sport of golf, which all residents can participate in. The event has one tournament for men and one for women, with a total of 204 amatuer and 72 professional golfers.

Wentworth Library is a part of the Dakota County Library System, which permits visitors to have access to the system’s extensive database. Various programs are also offered for all ages through the library.

Several golf courses are also located within West. St. Paul, including Thompson Oaks Golf Course. The club maintains 9 holes over 1,675 yards of rolling hills and green fairways. Lessons and leagues are also available for different ages and skill levels.

The city maintains a new state-of-the-art Regional Athletics Center, which was opened in 2012. The center is a multipurpose facility with space for lacrosse, soccer, baseball, softball, soccer, football, and more. During the hot months of the summer, residents enjoy cooling off at the West St. Paul Pool. This outdoor facility features a zero depth splash pool, separate lap pool with drop slides, 2 water slides, and concession stands. In addition, a separate playground and picnic tables are available for use.

West St. Paul is home to hundreds of different well-established businesses and a light industrial park. One of the largest businesses located in the city is TapeMark, which employs approximately 300 hundred people. The company is strongly invested into the community with annual fundraisers such as the TapeMark Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament and Employee Giving Campaign. TapeMark also supports charities like Greater Twin Cities United, CHCM, and OYH. One of the city’s most influential non-profit organizations is Goodwill. Located on South Robert Street, Goodwill donates 85% of each dollar to fund programs designed to help people prepare for work in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Perhaps the largest factor that shapes the community of West St. Paul is its location. Situated just 9 minutes south of St. Paul and 22 minutes east of Minneapolis, residents have easy access to all that the Twin Cities have to offer. Even with its close proximity to the bustling cities, residents still enjoy a small town feel within the family-friendly community.
