The city of Savage, Minnesota is home to around 29,000 residents. As one of the cities located on the southern border of the Minnesota River, Savage has seen significant growth in recent years. The Savage Public Library is another great amenity located within the city. A collection of historical memorabilia related to Savage’s early history and to Dan Patch, the Heritage Room gives visitors a visual portrayal of what life has looked like historically in Savage. Residents can view the two display cases as well as numerous historical articles and books to learn more about their city’s heritage.
Savage’s location plays a role in its community. The city attracts many homeowners who enjoy scenic, natural beauty in a location that is close to the metro. As mentioned previously, Savage has seen growth from residents moving into the area from its larger, neighboring cities. As a bedroom community, many residents of Savage choose to live in the area and commute to the larger cities for work because Savage affords a more peaceful and spacious atmosphere than that of its neighbors. While much of Savage is undeveloped and reserved for park land, the city is not without its comforts. Residents have access to many businesses including dining, shopping, and entertainment. However, for those desiring greater variety, top-notch dining, shopping, parks, entertainment, and employment options are readily available in the nearby, surrounding cities of Burnsville, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie. Additionally, the city of Minneapolis is only 19 miles north of Savage, giving residents easy access to the amenities of the big city.
