The city of Carver is approximately 2,405 acres, which can be physically divided into three land sections: (1) the broad, flat valley of the Minnesota River, (2) the steep, rugged bluff and ravines, and (3) the gently rolling upland areas. Carver‘s development has been constrained by the same elements that make it unique: the river’s extensive flood plain, the wooded ravines that lie just beyond it, and the steep bluffs that rise from the floodplain.
This same area also provides sweeping views from the edges of the bluffs and from ridgelines in the upland areas, creating many desirable housing sites. The bluffs surround the old town and parallel not only the Minnesota River itself but also the tributaries that flow into the Minnesota River.
