Ideal for young families with children or those who enjoy active recreation, Heritage Square Park is perfect for family get-togethers, afternoon picnics, or pick up games. Additionally, visitors enjoy the only skate park in the city at Heritage Square Park.

Blaha Memorial Song Bird Sanctuary: A peaceful haven for birdwatchers, the Blaha Memorial Song Bird Sanctuary is a unique location for residents. With an abundance of wildlife and many bird species calling the sanctuary their home, guests are treated to an array of exciting animals. The sanctuary was named after the Elizabeth Blaha Estate and is the only area remaining of the original Belle Plaine city.

Townsend Park: Townsend Park is located in the historical Belle Plaine downtown area. A gathering place for community events, the park is the host of local favorites such as Arts in the Park and the annual tree lighting ceremony at Christmas. With a beautiful fountain, well-maintained shrubbery and numerous prairie grasses, Townsend Park is the perfect rest spot for visitors. Whether it be spring, summer, fall or winter, Townsend Park makes a beautiful, cozy destination.

Union Square Park: Union Square Park is a very important community park. It is the home to the largest community event, Bar-B-Q days. Additionally, it is the home of Belle Plaine’s baseball field, Tiger Park. This field is utilized by the local schools, leagues, and even State Amateur Baseball tournaments. Veterans Park: Veterans Park is a very important component of the Belle Plaine community. Located near highway 169, the park has great visibility from those who drive by. Perhaps what most makes it stand out, however, is the helicopter that is located on site. A retired US army Huey helicopter, the helicopter is there to pay tribute to war veterans and those who have died in service for our country. In addition to the helicopter, Veterans Park also features a flag display honoring the various facets of our military as well as numerous flagpoles flying Old Glory and dedicated by members of the Belle Plaine community.
