The first inhabitants to settle in the area of Lexington were the Dakota and Ojibwe Tribes along local lakes and Rice Creek.  The natives chose this area to settle because of it’s abundance in fish and rice. The first recorded white settler in the area was Phillip Laddy in 1862 in what became Blaine Township. Laddy settled in the area around Laddie Lake which was named after him. In 1877, the name Blaine was chosen for the Township that contained what is now the cities of Blaine, Lexington, and Circle Pines. In 1880, Blaine Township had a population of 128 and by 1900 the Township was home to over 370 people.

In 1950 an election was held by local residents to help incorporate what is now the city of Lexington.  The village of Lexington, Minnesota was incorporated on May 5, 1950 with a population of 569 residents.

What’s my home worth?A clear, local estimate for your street, not just the city.

Today the village has continued to thrive and grow as a community. Since it’s incorporation, the cities population has grown from 596 to over 2,000 today. Lexington is home to over 780 houses and 500 families. The city has become a quiet and cozy community attracting many people to its small town atmosphere. This close-knit community is the perfect blend of a small town and big city.
