Bar-B-Q Days is the cornerstone event for the local community and always draws in large crowds. For many of the residents, this is the event that they look forward to each year. Belle Plaine also hosts its own half marathon race each year. This race brings in many visitors and showcases the city.
There are several amenities that residents enjoy throughout Belle Plaine. The city of Belle Plaine provides community education for its residents. Offered through the local school district, community education allows for residents to not only learn new skills, but also to meet with one another. With a wide variety of courses for all ages and interests, residents enjoy the excitement that community education brings.
Another amenity available for residents is the public library. The Belle Plaine Public Library is open to the public and belongs to the Scott County Library system. In addition to having access to the entire system’s network of books and resources through an interlibrary loan program, residents are also able to check out toys for children through a unique program. Perfect for grandparents who may be entertaining grandchildren for the weekend, the toy checkout program is a great resource for the community. During the summertime, residents like to utilize the community pool. While not free, the pool offers a great location to cool down or exercise. Additionally, throughout the summer the pool will screen dive-in movies and offer swimming lessons.
Belle Plaine’s location plays a large role in the community. It is highly involved with its neighboring cities and the other Scott County members. Residents have access to numerous other events and amenities in the surrounding cities. Additionally, for those desiring greater shopping, dining, entertainment, or employment opportunities, the Twin Cities metro area is only 45 minutes away.
