The City of Marine on St. Croix is a part of Stillwater Area Public Schools. There are 18 communities within this 30 mile district, Afton, Bayport, Baytown Township, Grant, part of Hugo, Lake Elmo, Lakeland, Lakeland Shores, Lake St. Croix Beach, Marine on St. Croix, May Township, Oak Park Heights, St. Mary’s Point, Stillwater, Stillwater Township, West Lakeland Township, Withrow, and a portion of Woodbury. In total, Independent School District 834 serves about 8,800 students in 14 different schools.
Marine Elementary is a small, community school located in the City of Marine on St. Croix. This school serves each 134 students in grades K-6. Staff members strive to support each student and promote a positive learning environment. Marine believes that parent involvement in their child’s education is crucial to their success. Parents are invited to volunteer in the classrooms, participate in parent organizations, and serve on special committees.
Stillwater Junior High School is one of two junior highs in the district. Over 1,000 students in grades 6-9 are served by dedicated staff members. About 80 percent of the student population take part in after school activities. Opportunities include sports and academic clubs, including drama, art, and choir.
Stillwater Area High School, situated in Oak Park Heights, is the only high school in District 834. Students are served with the motto “we learn not for school but for life”. SAHS is situated on 139 acres in the St. Croix River Valley, boasting a campus-like setting. Each of the 2,200 students have ample opportunities academically with a six period day with two semesters a year. College-bound students leave equipped because of rigorous academics. Advanced Placement are offered in subjects including English, French, Spanish, History, American Government, Psychology, Biology, Calculus, Statistics, and Chemistry. Reading and writing are emphasized among all subjects to prepare students for their future. Off-site post-secondary education are also available to students. Athletic and non-athletic opportunities are abundant at Stillwater Area High School.
