The City of Cottage Grove, Minnesota is located in Washington County 10 miles south of the Twin Cities. Platted in 1871, Cottage Grove covers 33.62 square miles of land and 3.86 square miles of water. Situated on the north bank of the Mississippi River, the city is a thriving, friendly community with a present day population of 35,399.
Cottage Grove offers a variety of opportunities to support the community. One special event locals enjoy each year is the Strawberry Fest. The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest is a 4 day long family-friendly event. Each year approximately 15,000-20,000 people enjoy this wonderful festival with numerous activities. Events include a parade, car show, art fair, carnival, fireworks, food vendors, hot air balloon rides, live entertainment, petting farm, races, a talent show, and much more. This event is a town hit that offers something for all ages.
Many amenities are available for the growing City of Cottage Grove. With over 1,100 acres of parkland, This growing community has outdoor activities for all. In this area, residents enjoy 30 parks and over 45 miles of trails. The city is also home to two golf courses, Mississippi Dunes Golf Links and River Oaks Golf Course. With more land adjacent to the Mississippi River than any other city in Minnesota, locals take advantage of its beautiful scenery.
