The city of North Oaks, Minnesota is served by the St. Paul, Maplewood, Mounds View, and White Bear Lake school districts. Although the city of North Oaks is home to only one school, the city has access to numerous schools in several neighboring communities.

Turtle Lake Elementary School in the Mounds View School District serves students in 1st through 5th grades. Students at Turtle Lake Elementary receive one-on-one and small group learning opportunities where teachers focus on the specific needs of each student. Students receive daily instruction in math and reading in groups ranging from 5 to 15 students. This style of learning is aligned with the same set of standards in a traditional classroom setting, but offers personalized connections and instructions that fit the specific needs of each student.

Chippewa Middle School is the only school in North Oaks and serves 1,054 students in 6th through 8th grades in the Mounds View School District. Chippewa Middle School is known for it’s academic excellence and has some of the highest test scores in the state. Students at Chippewa Middle school experience a 7 period day with core classes in math, science, English, language arts, and social studies. They also learn about physical education, art, computer technology, health, Spanish, and music. Chippewa helps students experience a positive and supportive environment where they learn to collaborate, engage, advocate, and think critically.

Mounds View High School serves 1,700 students and offers curricular and co-curricular options designed to meet the needs of each student.  Mounds View High School is among the top high schools in the country.  Every student has a personalized learning plan and is taught in a safe and supportive learning environment.  Another draw to the city of North Oaks is access to Mounds View High School, 8 out of 10 resident students attend the public schools.  Mounds View School District is the 11th largest districts in the state of Minnesota. With six elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, one alternative school and an Area Learning Center, the District serves more than 11,000 students and employs more than 1,700 staff. 

White Bear Lake School District serves a total 8,900 students preK-12 in Birchwood, Gem Lake, Hugo, Lino Lakes, Little Canada, Maplewood, North Oaks, Vadnais Heights, and White Bear Lake.

Otter Lake Elementary School is another public school option for North Oaks families that live on the east side of town.  This neighborhood elementary school is part of the White Bear Lake School District and works hard to create a strong and positive bond between the community, students and faculty. Otter Lake Elementary School believes that children have the right to develop academic, physical, emotional, and social skills, in a safe nurturing environment, which will assist them in becoming contributing members of our democratic society.

Matoska International School serves students in grades K-5 and is the only IB World School in the White Bear Lake School District.  As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, they are aligned with the IB organizations’s mission, IB Learner Profile, and the Minnesota state standards.  Matoska International School focuses on the whole child and recognizes and values the unique abilities of every child.  Family and community involvement are a major part of what makes this school a success.  

Central Middle School IB World School and Sunrise Park Middle School IB World School are the two middle schools in the White Bear Lake School District.  The mission of the White Bear Lake Area Middle Schools is to challenge their students to become inquiring, lifelong learners, engaged citizens who take action in their local, national, and global communities, and compassionate, respectful, and persevering young people.  Both schools are recognized as an IB World School.

White Bear Lake Area High School serves students in 9th through 12th grade in the White Bear Lake School District.  They are one high school, with two campuses, serving students from Birchwood, Gem Lake, Hugo, Lino Lakes, Little Canada, Maplewood, North Oaks, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake, and White Bear Township. White Bear Lake Area High School – North Campus serves grades 9-10 and White Bear Lake Area High School – South Campus is for grades 11-12.

Cretin-Derham Hall Catholic High School is a Private Catholic School whose main focus is in preparing their students for opportunities in post-secondary education.  This Catholic high school provides an affordable, value-centered education with an all-inclusive approach.  They welcome young people of diverse abilities, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds and prepare them for education and life beyond high school. Cretin-Derham Hall is located in Saint Paul.

Totino Grace Catholic High School is an Archdiocesan co-educational Catholic high school located in Fridley, just 15 minutes from North Oaks.  The key elements of their mission are learning, faith, community, and service, who seek to provide a safe environment that places priority on mutual respect, self-discipline, and acknowledgment of our responsibility in the world community.

St. Paul Academy and Summit School, SPA,  is an elite private K-12 school in Saint Paul’s Macalester-Groveland neighborhood. St. Paul Academy and Summit School strives to create an exceptional educational experience.  The language department offers Spanish, German, French, and Mandarin Chinese (simplified characters) and has international exchange programs for students in grades 10–12.  SPA has partnered with schools in France, Germany, Spain, and China.  After graduation, 100% of the students have continued on to a 4-year college.

Liberty Classical Academy is a Private Christian School that serves students in preschool through 12th grade. Liberty Classical follows classical education, which breaks down into a three part process of education; grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Liberty provides a compassionate and supportive environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and make observations.
