Lake Waconia is one of the most beautiful Lakes in the Twin Citie offering an abundance of aquatic and outdoor activities throughout the year. Lake Waconia is the largest lake in Carver County and is the second largest in the Twin Cities seven county area offering a multitude of entertainment options. During the summer months Lake Waconia is bustling with a number of aquatic activities including sailing, boating, swimming, tubing, water skiing, jet skiing, and many more as well as surfers, sailboarders, and sailboaters in the spring. The Lake itself encompasses an area 3,080 acres with a maximum depth of 37 feet. Fishing, angling, and ice fishing are popular activities throughout the year on Lake Waconia. This group of settlers traveled north up the Mississippi River into Minnesota and then on the Minnesota River to Carvers Landing in Carver, Minnesota. After landing in Carver, the group traveled down Carvers Creek and eventually settled in the area around Lake Waconia. In 1862, settlers continued to pour into the Lake Waconia area forcing the Dakota Indians to move onto a reservation. This conflict and the start of the Civil War all lead to what is now called the Sioux Uprising. During this time, people were forced to leave their homes in order to protect themselves from Indian attacks. After the war ended, the Dakota Indians left the area, enabling the communities around Lake Waconia to grow.

There are several parks and beaches situated around Lake Waconia, adding to its already abundant recreational appeal.Lake Waconia Regional Park is a 100 acre park on the southern shore of Lake Waconia just outside the City of Waconia. This scenic park offers outstanding views of the lake as well as Coney Island. Lake waconia Regional Park also features picnic shelters, playground equipment, swimming beach, picnic tables, volleyball court, grills, and boat access. Lake Waconia Regional Park is the perfect spot to enjoy fun filled activities surrounded by the beauty of Lake Waconia.

Cedar Point Park is a community park within the City of Waconia situated on the shores of Lake Waconia. This beautiful park offers numerous amenities including 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, playground equipment, picnic tables, fishing pier, and a walking path along the lake. Cedar Point park is just another way to enjoy the beauty of Lake Waconia.
