Osseo Area Schools, school district 279, is an award-winning school system that inspires and prepares all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams. Serving all or parts of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo, Plymouth, and Rogers, this district is the fifth largest in the state. It is also is the only Minnesota school district to be named as one of the nation’s “Best Communities for Music Education” every year since 2009. The district enrolls about 20,000 students with 17 elementary schools, four middle schools, three senior highs, an area learning center, two early childhood centers, two special program sites, and an adult education/enrollment center.
The main preschool in the district provides excellent preparation for elementary school, and allows for a safe place where young ones can come to learn. The preschool programs utilize the research-based early learning standards developed by the Minnesota Department of Education. Kindergarten and early childhood teachers work together to make sure that the skills taught in preschool lay the framework for those taught in kindergarten.
Rush Creek Elementary School is located in western Maple Grove, Minnesota. This is the best elementary school in the district, as it serves over 1,000 students. The school takes pride in meeting the academic needs of all of their students. Rush Creek ranks in the top 50 of all elementary schools in the state and it was ranked better than 95% of the other schools in Minnesota by SchoolDigger.com.
An excellent private school option in this district for an integration of faith and learning is St. John’s Lutheran School. The students at this school consistently achieve test scores that are much higher than the average student. The teachers and staff make sure to provide each student with all the tools of success that he or she needs.
As the top middle school in the area, Maple Grove Middle School commits to maintaining high expectations and standards in a safe, caring, and respectful environment, improving student academic growth using innovative educational techniques, and valuing diversity and respect for others.
As the largest and best high school in the district, Maple Grove High School has established a reputation for holding all students to high standards. The school enrolls 1,700 students and offers over 200 courses that include AP and preparatory classes. Students also consistently score above average in reading and math tests when compared to other schools in the state.
