The city of Champlin, Minnesota owns and operates over 300 acres of parkland spread across 32 different sites. Each park within the parks system offers visitors different amenities and many are quite unique. In addition to the city’s parks, Champlin is also home to approximately 800 acres of the large Elm Creek Park Reserve. With so much space reserved for outdoor enjoyment, residents of Champlin have no shortage of places to engage and explore the outdoors. Some of the most notable parks include:

Andrews Park: Andrews Park is one of Champlin’s most popular and active parks. A hit among families of all ages, Andrew Park is home to Champlin’s splash pad. An interactive, water play area, the splash pad is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day. Andrews Park is also home to a picnic shelter, concessions stand, programming building, playground, four softball field, one baseball field, three football/soccer fields, two hockey rinks, one free skating area, four tennis courts, one sand volleyball court, a warming house, and trails. As Champlin’s largest city-run park, Andrews Park is a staple of the local community.

Mississippi Point Park: Mississippi Point Park serves as the waterfront access for the city of Champlin. Because Champlin is located on the Mississippi River, residents can enjoy fishing and boating within their own city. The Mississippi Point Park offers visitors a boat launch, fishing area, and picnic area with grills, making it the perfect summer destination for those with watercraft. Additionally, adjacent to the park are two tennis courts.

Northland Park: Northland Park acts as one of Champlin’s sporting complexes. The park features a playground, three softball fields, a basketball court, two hockey rinks, a free-skating area, a soccer/football field, a warming house, and trails. A popular community destination during the summer, many softball games take place at night and residents are encouraged to come cheer on local teams or start a game of their own.

Doris A. Kemp Park: The Doris A. Kemp Park is a medium-sized, peaceful park located near Highway 169. Despite being next to a noisy highway, the park is able to provide quiet havens for those seeking a peaceful setting. This is achieved through the walking trails that meander around the nearby ponds, the gazebo and picnic areas that provide rest, and the numerous flower gardens that border the pathways. The Doris A. Kemp Park also has a fishing dock and canoe launch for visitors seeking aquatic recreation.

Elm Creek Park Reserve: The Elm Creek Park Reserve is located in Champlin as well as in the nearby city of Maple Grove. Owned and operated by the Three Rivers Park District, the Elm Creek Park Reserve is the largest park that they own. The park encompasses a massive 4,900 acres filled with just about every amenity one could desire. Amenities include archery, biking, camping, cross-country skiing, disc golf, dog trails, downhill and telemark Skiing, geocaching, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, nature education, picnic areas, play areas, skijoring & dog sledding, sledding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, swimming, and tubing. With so much acreage and activity, the Elm Creek Park Reserve is a wonderful outdoor destination for Champlin’s residents to explore.
